KarenKaren graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Major in Fine Art and a Minor in Speech Communication. While in New York City she designed promotional material for theaters and created in-house art programs for corporate employees as well as after-school programs for children. As Head of the Graphics Department for New York City's Office of the Comptroller under Harrison J. Goldin, she received a design award and was nominated for Outstanding Woman in Government.

Since moving to California, her photography and paintings have been exhibited at Bergamot Station Arts Center, Venice-Arts, Deborah Martin Gallery, Duncan Miller Gallery and Joshua Tree Art Gallery.

Karen's personal collection of contemporary photography by women was featured in the exhibition "Women Shooting Women" at the Roger Smith Hotel in New York City. She also curated work by photographers whose images of Joshua Tree National Park were shown at The Joshua Tree Art Gallery and featured in the publication Desert Sun.

Currently, Karen covers events at The New School of Cooking in Culver City, California. Her blog, In The Kitchen, combines original photos and writing and provides a look inside the workings of a culinary academy with a full time program, guests chefs and selected artisanal workshops.
