Karen Forek
Karen graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a Major in Fine Art and a Minor in Speech Communication. While in New York City she designed promotional material for theatres and created in-house art programs for corporate employees as well as after-school programs for children. As Head of the Graphics Department for New York City's Office of the Comptroller under Harrison J. Goldin, she received a design award and was nominated for Outstanding Woman in Government. Karen studied under sculptor Susan Smyly, and completed Susan's teacher training program for the "Non-Fail Drawing Method", a unique, certified approach to visual literacy. In her current work, Karen explores themes of relationship by using family, nature and the global community as subject matter and strives for strong composition and sumptuous color in her non-traditional combination of techniques. A resident of Venice, California for over 20 years, she continues to exhibit her paintings, prints and photographs both in Los Angeles and New York. To view or download my resume, click here
